This Rajasthan-born batsman, who represents Karnataka in the domestic circuit, was bought by the Rajasthan Royals ahead of the 2014 season. A technically sound right-handed batsman with a good temperament, Karun represented the Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2012. The batsman scored three centuries from six matches for Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy 2013-14 season, including a sparkling 151 not out in the semi-final. Nearly twelve months later, he scored a magnificent 328 in the final of the Ranji Trophy 2014-15. Though he had an ordinary 2015-16 season, the young batsman played a vital role in Rest of India’s historic run chase against Mumbai in the season-ending Irani Cup. The middle-order batsman who was part of the Rajasthan Royals team earlier, will be donning the Delhi Daredevils jersey in the 2016 edition of the IPL.

Karnataka batsman Karun Nair had an outstanding debut first-class season in 2013-14, becoming an instrumental part of the side that swept the Ranji and Irani titles. He hit centuries in three successive Ranji matches, including the quarter-finals and the semi-finals, and also hit the winning six that ended Karnataka’s 15-year-wait for a Ranji title.

Nair had shown promise early on, deemed good enough to make the Karnataka Under-19s team when he was 15, and steadily climbed the rungs before making the Ranji side in his early 20s. In 2014 he was signed by IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals, where he established himself in the XI, sometimes even opening the batting with Shane Watson.

Consistent performances for Karnataka and India A earned him an India call-up in 2015, when he joined the Test squad in Sri Lanka as a replacement to M Vijay – though he did not debut. In the 2016 IPL auction, Nair cashed in big time, selling for Rs 4 crore to Delhi Daredevils – 40 times his base price of Rs 10 lakh.
